Course Description

This course is designed for court interpreters who work in conservatorship cases, limited conservatorship proceedings, and cases involving the Lanterman Act. These proceedings are often complex, involving legal, medical, and psychological terms that interpreters must accurately translate. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the roles of all parties involved in conservatorship cases, as well as ethical issues and the interpreter’s role in protecting the rights of individuals with disabilities.
